Health Care
HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care, and Support Project with Truckers in Mumbai
Supported by Mumbai District AIDS Control Society (MDACS) [2012 – 2022]
About 6,80,000 truck drivers and workers such as cleaners and helpers in Mumbai have been supported with HIV prevention, treatment and care services such as HIV testing, STI screening and treatment, condom distribution, and behaviour change communication sessions. 120 truckers living with HIV have received care and referral services. The project currently provides services to 20000 truckers.
HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care, and Support Project with Migrants in Navi Mumbai
Supported by the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) [2014-2017] and Maharashtra State AIDS Control Society (MSACS) [2016 – 2022]
About 7,38,788 migrants in Mumbai have been supported with HIV prevention, treatment, and care services such as HIV testing, STI screening and treatment, condom distribution, and behaviour change communication sessions. 90 migrants living with HIV have received care and referral services. The project currently provides services to 30000 migrants.
HIV/AIDS Prevention, Care and Support Project with Female Sex Workers (FSWs) in Navi Mumbai
Supported by MSACS [2016-2022]
About 1864 female sex workers (FSWs) in Airoli are receiving HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and referral services. MVASSK also facilitates their access to social entitlements and welfare schemes such as Aadhaar card, PAN card, Ration card, and Nav Sanjiveeni Yojana. MVASSK regularly does advocacy and conducts sensitization programs with various stakeholders, thereby addressing and reducing incidences of crisis against FSWs.
Education
Support for Educational Initiatives by Tata Power Community Development Trust [2016-2021]
- Remedial Class at 4 schools in Mumbai, benefitting 400 children studying in 2nd to 5th grade; the initiative improved the learning levels of children considerably.
- Monitoring of E-Learning centers in 31 BMC Schools, benefitting 20,000 children to learn concepts easily through digital literacy.
With support from United Way Mumbai, 278 children of female sex workers received education kits and tablets in June 2022.
Livelihood
Integrated Health and Community Development
Supported by Concern India Foundation and Amazon Web Services [2020 to 2022] in Rabale, Navi Mumbai [2020 – 2022]
- 40 Self Help Groups (SHGs) formed with 469 women
- 105 women received training in tailoring
- 35 women trained in driving
- 625 children trained in life skills, primarily focused on the prevention of sexual violence and addiction
- 26 youth received job placements out of 50 trained in computer courses
- 60 Women employed in Navi Mumbai garment manufacturing unit run by MVASSK and supported by Concern India Foundation [July 2022- March 2023].
